SUMMARY:Using signs & symbols in community music: an introduction to Makaton
DESCRIPTION:This one off session is designed for community musicians delivering sessions with young children who are pre-verbal or for whom English is a second language. \nIt will introduce music leaders to signs and symbols that can be used to enhance communication during sessions\, and also contribute positively to the development of pre-verbal young children’s and neurodiverse young people’s communication skills. \nThe training will be delivered within a small group (8 people) online by regional Makaton tutor Susie Nowell-Kelley. \nParticipants will be exposed to around 30 key word signs that will support instructions\, transitions and activities during community music sessions. \nPlease note this session will be repeated 27th March at 5pm. Please only book for 1 session.
