This one off session is designed for community musicians delivering sessions with young children who are pre-verbal or for whom English is a second language.

It will introduce music leaders to signs and symbols that can be used to enhance communication during sessions, and also contribute positively to the development of pre-verbal young children’s and neurodiverse young people’s communication skills.

The training will be delivered within a small group (8 people) online by regional Makaton tutor Susie Nowell-Kelley.

Participants will be exposed to around 30 key word signs that will support instructions, transitions and activities during community music sessions.
